Civilian spacecraft developed by SPUTNIX GROUP (part of Sistema PJSFC) have been successfully placed into orbit as secondary payloads for the Aist-2T missions No. 1 and No. 2. The Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle lifted off on December 28th from Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur Region.
The launch included CubeSat 12U Earth observation spacecraft to expand the Zorkiy-2M constellation. These were produced under Russia's first-ever satellite leasing agreement with GTLK. The spacecraft are designed for optical multispectral Earth imaging from space.
The SITRO-AIS constellation - part of Russia's satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS), gained additional CubeSat 3U satellites for tracking marine vessels, particularly those navigating the Northern Sea Route. SITRO-TD spacecraft were deployed to test satellite Internet of Things technology.
Spacecraft produced for foreign customers were also placed into orbit to conduct technological and educational experiments. Among them is the QMR-KWT-2 educational satellite, built for a company from the United Arab Emirates to foster cooperation between Russia, the UAE, and Kuwait. Its main goal is to enable amateur radio broadcasting and promote space exploration in Arab countries.
SPUTNIX GROUP continues to expand its orbital constellation to provide satellite data and services in demand by both private businesses and government customers. Expansion of the Zorkiy-2M and SITRO-AIS constellations will boost our data capacity and delivery times. Plus, satellites for our international customers are now in orbit too, highlighting the strong global demand for our technology. “With this mission, we've now launched more than 100 satellites into orbit since 2014," commented Nikolai Pozhidaev, General Director of SPUTNIX Group.
All spacecraft have successfully separated from their launch containers upon reaching the target orbit. The SPUTNIX Flight Control Center has confirmed contact with all deployed satellites and begun telemetry acquisition.
