Problem:

• Need for monitoring of landfills and assessment of their environmental impact.

• The need to identify unauthorized landfills.

Solution:

Model for recognizing landfills from ultra-high resolution space imagery and UAS imagery.

How it works:

• Designation of an area of interest for the detection of unauthorized dumpsites.

• Ordering a new ultra-high resolution space imagery within the specified timeframe or UAV overflight of the area.

• Application of a pre-trained landfill detection model for images of the specified area, identification of target objects (landfills).

• Planning of routes for field survey of identified dumpsites.

• Fixing the facts of illegal waste dumping in the field.

• Additional training of the model on the actual validated material.

• A service model of ordering a survey, automated RS data processing, obtaining results and generating report documentation is possible.

RS data needed:

• One-time imaging from ultra-high resolution satellites (less than 1 m).

• Unmanned aerial vehicle imagery.
