GTLK Transfers First Three Leasing Satellites to SPUTNIX Group Operator
April 9, 2026
Within the framework of Space Week, GTLK (VEB.RF Group) and the SPUTNIX Group (AFK Sistema) signed an acceptance act of the spacecraft for leasing — three Earth remote sensing (ERS) satellites Zorky‑2M.
The satellites were produced under the first and unique space leasing deal in Russia involving GTLK, signed in November 2024. The spacecraft were successfully launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in late December 2025. Over the following three months, in‑orbit tests were carried out and the operability of all systems was verified. The satellites are now fully ready for commercial operation as part of the orbital constellation. Subscriptions for data from these ERS satellites will be available through the SPUTNIX Group, providing commercial access to high‑resolution space imagery.
The pilot “space leasing” transaction, conceived and implemented by GTLK, has demonstrated the versatility and effectiveness of the company’s financial tools for funding innovative high‑tech projects. The development of public‑private partnership in the space sector opens new opportunities and supports technological sovereignty in Russia as a whole.
‘’The transfer of the first satellites under a lease is practical confirmation that the space leasing mechanism we have created works and can be used to implement complex technological projects. We have not just financed the deal, but have established a new model for the industry's development that will accelerate the formation of satellite constellations and increase the accessibility of space services for businesses and the state” – said Mikhail Parnyev, General Director of GTLK.
“The implementation of the ‘space leasing’ deal in practice has confirmed the effectiveness of this mechanism for realizing complex projects, including the manufacturing of spacecraft. We are confident that leasing programmes will contribute to the formation of modern satellite constellations meeting the requirements of both government and commercial customers,” noted Nikolai Pozhidayev, General Director of the SPUTNIX Group.
GTLK sees significant potential in scaling up “space leasing” within a special state‑co‑financed programme. Such an arrangement will help increase production volumes, accelerate the formation of satellite constellations, expand the supply of services, and improve the accessibility of digital services for end users.
Images from the Zorky‑2M spacecraft are expected to be in demand in urban and agricultural planning, construction, environmental protection, infrastructure monitoring, as well as in disaster response and recovery operations.
