SPUTNIX Group, a leading Russian space technology developer specializing in the development and operation of small satellites (part of Sistema Group), announces the appointment of Nikolay Pozhidaev as CEO.
The decision to appoint Nikolay Pozhidaev as CEO of SPUTNIX Group was made by the company's Board of Directors. He succeeds Pavel Cherenkov, who has been the head of the company since 2024. Previously, Nikolay Pozhidaev held the position of Managing Partner of Sistema Group, where he was responsible for the development of a number of high-tech assets of the corporation, including in the space sector. In his new position, he will focus on the development of civil satellite constellations and services based on space data for various sectors of the economy.
"Over the past three years, SPUTNIX Group has significantly strengthened its market position, becoming a technological leader among private companies in Russia with the largest space constellation. Our strategic goal is to develop a multifunctional satellite system providing reliable data transfer from orbit and communications both at sea and on land, which contributes to strengthening the technological sovereignty of our country. I am pleased to lead the company at this dynamic and responsible stage of its development", Nikolay Pozhidaev commented on his appointment.
Currently there are 80 satellites in orbit, produced by the company both for its own needs and for commercial customers. At the same time, SPUTNIX Group's own constellation includes 58 spacecraft. Another 22 satellites are planned to be launched in 2025.
