Rosleskhoz and SPUTNIX Group signed an agreement on cooperation in the use of Earth remote sensing data

The signed agreement is aimed at using Earth remote sensing data from the satellite constellation for forest conservation activities.

"To monitor changes and forest taxation, the agreement plans to introduce new sources of spatial information obtained by domestic spacecraft. The use of Earth remote sensing data opens up new opportunities for increasing transparency in the industry. And of course, together with our colleagues we will develop and test methods for automated interpretation of remote sensing data for the purpose of forest inventory and identification of changes in quantitative and qualitative characteristics of forests," emphasized Vyacheslav Spirenkov, Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz.

As part of the agreement, the parties will jointly develop and implement modern technologies for processing and analyzing data obtained by satellite observation.

"Zorky-2M Earth remote sensing spacecraft have been created and successfully used mainly for monitoring the condition of vast territories, including forest areas." Partnership with the Federal Forestry Agency is of strategic importance for SPUTNIX Group", said Pavel Cherenkov, General Director of SPUTNIX Group.
